Event Recap: CommsDay Congress, sponsored by iBoss
The CommsDay Congress is an Australian telecoms industry event where providers, regulators and thought leaders come together to discuss the current shape of the industry and future trends and challenges.
This year’s event delivered interesting presentations on the themes of policy & regulation, customer service, operations and of course the hot topic of the moment, NBN.
The iBoss expo stand generated plenty of interest, with our team presenting an NBN aggregation solution that is truly the commercial model NBN should have been.
With the current 121 NBN points of interconnect, the business case simply does not stack up for small or even mid-size providers to connect to the NBN directly. The solution is simple – skip the 121 problems and leverage our specialised aggregation platform via just 1 point of interconnect and a flat fee with iBoss.
iBoss parent company MyNetFone Group’s CEO Rene Sugo also delivered a presentation on the biggest threat to the telecommunications industry - toll fraud. This topic is a bit of a painful secret in the industry, but with the cost of fraud amounting to $46.3 billion in 2013 and growing fast, it is time to start talking about it. One new innovation is addressing the problem head on – TollShield. Developed in house, the patent-pending TollShield platform addresses the growing threat of toll fraud by detecting and blocking calls in real time. TollShield has been successfully protecting the iBoss SIP Trunk services, delivered over the Symbio network, for over a year. This makes iBoss wholesale SIP Trunking possibly the most fraud-resilient IP voice solution in Australia.
As the sponsor of the event, iBoss also hosted the official CommsDay cocktail party at the end of Day 1 – an opportunity for delegates to socialise and discuss the day’s events.
